Newsletter #7 Choose your Wars, Find your Army!
What’s up team,
Yet another crazy month in the lead up to this wild adventure. The wheels of life keep turning over, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel overwhelmed at times. But this is just the universes way of testing me, and seeing if I really have what it takes to keep moving forward.
One thing that has tested me is the negativity of some people. An expedition of this size has many moving parts and sadly, I have engaged the services of some organizations that have proven to have only their best interests at heart. It has proven to be a challenging situation to manage as they play a vital part in the construction of the expedition truck components. In these situations, I have always found it imperative to push personal emotion aside and focus on what will be the best result for the project, or in this case the mission of crossing ten deserts. There have been a lot of bite my tongue moments, and despite being a little behind schedule, we are still tracking well to deliver our project objectives on time. There is a great lesson to learn in all of it.
When you are moving forward, and you have the momentum of success behind you, it’s amazing how many friends you can acquire along the journey. And I love the challenge of stressful situations, where personal objectives can be exposed, and real personalities can come into focus.
This is why doing challenging things is such an addictive past time. Everyone is your friend when the music is playing, and the beer is flowing. But when the shit hits the fan, and you need to rely on your fellow man’s integrity to stand and deliver, those moments are what separates the boys from the men, the girls from the women. And it is only through adversity that I truly believe you can find your tribe.
hose men and women you want in the trenches with you, ankle deep in mud.
Life will test us all. You cannot avoid it if you want to live a life of any kind of substance. And when all the shots are fired, and the war has been won, it’s the men and women standing next to you that count. And in times of peace, we have to find our own wars to fight, our own soldiers to test and form our own squads. And only adversity can prove this. So yes, it has been a testing month of disappointment and financial stress. But through it all, you find out who will come to the next fight with you.
I hope to see you all in the dunes this ANZAC Day.
Peace out, BB.
